A lovely little copper house in Coogee
My eye was very much taken by this lovely little copper house in the Sydney suburb of Coogee. Designed by Takt Architects with a brief to be a small house, the objective was certainly achieved with the tiny abode coming in at just 60sqm!
So much appears to have been squeezed between the lovely raw copper clad walls. An artists touch is lent to the internal cladding with the use of hand-stretched canvas on MDF. Australian hardwood doors and windows including breezy louvre windows for cross-ventilation look great against the copper and a warm contrast against the leafy green gardens surrounding the cottage. The concrete floor with black oxide has been finished by hand with beeswax, completing the rustic, industrial vibe of the interiors.
The furnishings are beautifully pared back and understated, including a vintage spun copper pendant from Vampt and Globe pendants from Koskela while the lounge, dining and coffee table were custom designed by Takt in collaboration with Craft Design Realisation.
Feast your eyes on this little charmer!
