A canny renovation in Kew
This house in the Melbourne suburb of Kew shows how well contrast can be used to great effect in architectural and interior design. The extension to this Victorian weatherboard home was created by Canny Design. The interiors features a black and white background palette that is lifted with pops of warm reds, oranges and hot pinks in decorative accents throughout the home.
The streamlined design hides utilitarian items and puts form and design at the forefront, hiding signs of the owners busy lives while at the same time highlighting their wonderful art collection. The brief for clean modern lines and functionality for a young, growing family has clearly been met, delivering new living zones and good intergration with the original dwelling.
Sustainable features: orientated for maximum solar gain, double glazed windows, concrete floor for thermal mass, heavy insulation.
