Compact but wonderful inner city Melbourne abode
This compact little gem is on a tiny parcel of just 210sqm in inner city Melbourne and was designed by Architects Eat, whose brief it was to maximise the interior volume and the perception of space. They did this using various visual devices such as “a lowlight window with a glimpse of tufted garden beyond, a rooflight offering blue sky while streaming sun into the dining area and a second storey window, filtered for privacy along and exterior cladding pointing to the sky.” The interiors are warm and sleek with floors of burnished concrete, Tasmanian oak and decking in laminated bamboo. The external cladding of shiplap silvertop ash contrasts well against the ‘monument’ stramit metal cladding. The vintage armchairs and dining chairs are just stunning aren’t they? They are from Modern History in Melbourne, which specialises in high quality 20th Century design furniture, lighting and objects.
