Industrial cafe vibe for Rozelle terrace
This terrace house revamp in Rozelle was originally restricted to a modest kitchen makeover, however, led by TW Architects, the owners realised the advantages of reworking the whole house and decided on a full makeover including open plan living area, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. The owners wishlist included a strong industrial design aesthetic for the kitchen, given their enjoyment of entertaining and cooking in an open format. The owners also wanted a covered outdoor dining space on the outdoor terrace, which has impressive views of Sydney’s city skyline. Replacing and making a feature of the staircase had a dramatic impact on the aesthetics and opened up the house, allowing for views through the home to the spectacular city skyline.
Sustainable features: Designed for cross-ventilation with openable windows wherever possible, and operable louvres to bedrooms; Passive solar design / natural light, with large skylight above kitchen area. Remote motorised blind to large glazed section at rear to control solar access.
