A meditative landscape design created for harsh coastal conditions

This stunning little slice of zen was created by Urban Exotic Landscape Architects. The site posed some major challenges, including heavy coastal exposure, salt-laden winds, heritage issues and privacy concerns from the neighbouring caravan park. The owners already had great coastline views from the house, so the outcome for the landscape was more about the view of it from the house and the experience it would deliver. Urban Exotic came up with an imaginative landscape design for the triangular plot, with a sunken garden and higher fencing, creating both privacy and protection from the elements. The striking copper water feature adds visual effect and the soothing sound of water to the landscape, while landscape lighting provides ambiance after dark. The space has enhanced the owners lives with its meditative qualities and is used daily for yoga, meditation, dining and relaxation.
