Modern makeover using contrast and colour
Jessica Helgerson Interior Design has waved its magic wand over this formerly run down ranch in Portland. Cramped enclosed living areas were opened up and given a light and airy vibe using a restrained colour palette of white walls, ebony floors and splashes of green through the textiles, tiles and the use of greenery for decorate effect. Nearly all the furnishings were vintage finds that were refinished or reupholstered. The architect owner made the coffee table from a slab of locally salvaged maple. Antiques finds throughout the home offer a unique finishing touch to the design, including a pair of Portuguese eel traps hanging over the fireplace, Chinese stools, a rustic mirrored cabinet and French blown-glass bottles.
