Warm industrial chic in seaside Brighton
I came across this architectural beauty while researching a fireplace / tv combination for my own home. I’m sure you’ll agree, the way mckimm design has combined the two elements is simply stunning, using a concrete hearth poured on site together with a striking customised steel fabrication for the black firebox around the fireplace.
This unique property was designed to cater to the needs and social lives of a young family of five. The design takes advantage of the North-Western orientation, providing beautiful views from all rooms to the gardens and pool.
Concrete is used extensively throughout, including polished concrete floors and off-form concrete used for internal feature walls and ceilings and the three-storey stairwell.
The steel and concrete has been softened and warmed with the use of American oak wall and ceiling cladding, combining to create a cozy living area with sheer curtains and wood burning fire place.
