This concrete home in Sorrento was designed by Rob Mills Architects. Its architecture and interiors provide a vibrant contrast with pops of colour from indigenous artworks against the pared back, raw materials used for the walls. Dramatic ceiling voids draw the eye upward, offering unexpected sightlines that stretch from the ground floor all the way to the top of the house. Natural light floods in from above, shifting throughout the day and breathing life into every corner. The floating staircase is a sculptural focal point that enhances the sense of openness while keeping visual flow intact.
The interior walls of the concrete home feature subtle imperfections, while outside rugged timber beams are left exposed, both materials celebrated in the design for their texture and authenticity. The effect is unpretentious and grounding, with the raw honesty of the materials giving the otherwise contemporary home its character.
