The entertainers house
We’re thrilled to have our first West Australian architecture project on Designhunter. Located in Mount Pleasant in Perth the home was designed by Wright Feldhusen architects for a family of 5 who entertain a lot. The design strategy was to provide as much transparency across the ground floor living spaces to maximise views across the interior to the spectacular eastern views across the Canning River to the Darling Escarpment.
The bedroom areas hover over the glass living zone below with the master bedroom telescoping dramatically into the view and and at the same providing a shaded outdoor kitchen and entertainment area to the terrace below.
All directly exposed windows have electonic external louvred blinds to control solar gain. Passive climate control is the main sustainable feature of the house. External walls especially the west facing bedrooms are clad in copper which shields the walls in the afternoon and will also weather into a natural patina over time.
