Pavilion chic by Tim Stewart Architects

The design of this pavilion style home is distinctive in its unpretentious use of simple materials, and has a raw earthiness that is perfectly offset by lush tropical gardens. Located on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, with panoramic views of the hinterland and coast, the home was designed by architect Tim Stewart for his parents. They wanted to enjoy their retirement in a simple home that connected with its environment and took advantage of the views. Tim designed the home with a U-shape configuration to connect each room with the surrounding gardens and vistas. Positioned on the edge of a ridge, the entrance is defined by a timber bridge overlooking water gardens and a valley of blackbutt trees below. A number of blackbutt trees that were removed to make way for the home were creatively re-used for internal exposed rafters, windows and floors. Simply stunning!
