Ultra cool house in Hardiman Street
We have many followers who are architects and designers and we love to get submissions like this amazing house that was submitted by one our very talented followers, ODR Architects or ‘Of Diverse Research’. I nearly fell over myself when I first saw it – in fact I love it so much I bumped the schedule to bring it to you more quickly 🙂 The brief started out as a simple refurbishment and ended up a bespoke extension. What you see here is the first stage of a larger project. Heritage controls defined the existing layout to an extent. Existing bedrooms were retained as the front two rooms, followed by a new bathroom/laundry and kitchen. This left the living room as the remaining space, defined by the previously concealed chimney that is now a celebrated feature with a clear connection to the newly defined courtyard at the rear.
The superb selection of materials and furnishings includes recycled timber floors, oxidised laser-cut steel sliding doors in a natural, oxidised finish and new internal wall linings with crisp sharp shadow line detailing. Natural light was introduced with skylights to a once dark passageway and the bathroom/laundry and kitchen. These areas feature mirrored finishes to several joinery items, including the laundry, fridge and kitchen, and bathroom splashbacks to reflect ample space and light.
Products specified: recycled timber front door with gold-paint finish from Urban Salvage, black-coated steel-framed door from Liquid Lines, downlight and suspended dining light from Euroluce.
Interior products we love: so much its hard to limit it but top 2 are the main wall art and the leather couch cum bean bag!
